An endorsement from one of our applicants

Milly Forrest wrote to us in April 2016 as follows:

Without the generous funding that SCALE Vocal Trust was able to give me, I would not have been able to audition for the Royal Academy of Music, where I am now studying in my third year of the Undergraduate Vocal Studies course. When I auditioned for SCALE, Tim Ward offered me some valuable advice and feedback on my chosen pieces, which I then took with me to my auditions. If I hadn't come across SCALE, I very much doubt that my voice would be developing as healthily as it is. At the Royal Academy, I regularly take part in the Bach Cantata series, conducted by Iain Ledingham, who is also one of my coaches. This summer I will be covering the role of Amore in the Royal Academy Opera course's production of Poppea as well as playing Clorinda in the London Young Sinfonia's production of La Cenerentola as part of the Bedford Park Festival. This academic year I have been sponsored by the Josephine Baker Trust, which works with Choral Societies, helping them with their soloist fees. Recently I sang solos in the Messiah with the Ipswich Choral Society, St John's passion with Dartington Community Choir, Stabat Mater and Dixit Dominus in Fareham and I will be singing the soprano solos in my first Haydn's creation at the end of April. I am extremely happy and settled at the Royal Academy of Music and making steady progress with my teacher Kathleen Livingston. I would strongly encourage anyone thinking about auditioning for SCALE as they do wonderful work for young singers. I am eternally grateful for their support in the early stages of my career as a singer.
